2013 Year In Review

2013 was a big year for Austin Communication Group and we project 2014 to be even better! Today is a great day to reflect on our past year and 2013 milestones.

Austin Communication Group saw close to 300% growth in 2013. That's right, 300%! We opened two new branches, with Nina and Robert earning Branch Manager promotions in February and July, respectively. Just a few weeks ago, Rose earned her Assistant Manager promotion, and she is on pace to open a branch for us in the second quarter of 2014. In the first half of 2014, our clients have asked us to take on at least three new markets in order to increase their business.

Our leadership team attended a conference in Atlanta in February, and in New Orleans in August, where our president, Austin, was recognized for his outstanding perseverance and strong leadership. In September, our management team got to enjoy a little Rest & Relaxation in Arizona at the Arizona Grand Resort, and in November, they flew out to sunny Malibu to compete against other teams for the coveted Big Bear Cup.

Yes, we had a lot of fun in 2013, but more importantly we worked hard. We had big goals for the year and we worked tirelessly to hit those goals. This allowed us to take on another major client project in telecommunications in June, and we were able to wow them with our results, while keeping a strong focus on our core business. In 2014, Austin Communication Group plans to continue seeking out new avenues for growth. We fully expect to see our growth continue at the rate we've seen this year. Why not aim for 400%? Stay tuned for more big accomplishments from Austin Communication Group in 2014!

“The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.” Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture

Rose Easley, our newest Assistant Manager

Austin Communication Group, Inc. is proud to announce that we have a new Assistant Manager, Rose Easley! In our company, titles are not handed out, but earned on merit. Rose started in our office as an Account Manager only 10 months ago, and has worked extremely hard to get where she is today. She currently leads a team of over 10 people, and she leads from the front. "Her ferocity, commitment and extreme desire to develop into a great servant of her team has allowed her to hit this great milestone, first of many she will hit in the future," said President Austin Smith of Rose on Thursday.

Rose graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration at Huston-Tillotson University here in Austin, TX, and excelled in the insurance industry, as well as energy sales and consulting, before joining the Austin Communication Group team. The next step for Rose is spending the next few months preparing for Branch Management. She will manage her own office for the business in 2014. Stay tuned!

Suggested Reading

Oftentimes, Austin Communication Group team members ask us what books we suggest reading that can help someone advance in our industry. We have realized that most of the books we recommend transcend our industry, and pertain to anyone who wants to communicate effectively or lead people in any organization: sports, religious, or business. Here are our top three reading suggestions:

How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. As the title suggests, this book centers around Mr. Carnegies principles of making friends. Since many of Austin Communication Group’s team members have roles in sales, we feel that this book is a great first read for anyone starting out in our company. Mr. Carnegie’s stories are fun and easy to read, and really deal with the psychology of small talk and human interaction. He suggests very basic principles like smiling, repeating someone’s name, and speaking in terms of the other person’s interests rather than just your own, when building relationships.

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. We believe an individual’s success has much more to do with his habits than his skill. Mr. Covey’s book outlines the seven fundamental habits that anyone who desires success in his organization should have: 1. Be Proactive 2. Begin with the End in Mind 3. Put First Things First 4. Think Win-Win 5. Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood 6. Synergize 7. Sharpen the Saw.

Relentless: From Good to Great to Unstoppable by Tim S. Grover. This is an intense read by a man who personally trained superstars like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Dwayne Wade. For these basketball legends to take their skills to the next level, they put their bodies in the hands of Mr. Grover. His stories and advice will show you what it takes to take your talent from good to unstoppable. This, of course, transcends from the basketball court into the business boardroom. We suggest this for our more experienced team members, who are seeking the next level, rather than fundamentals.

Have you read any of these books? If so, tell us what you think in our comments section. Also, tell us what reading you suggest!
